Music and Arts events

We are delighted to announce a series of music and arts events coming up at St Michael's.

Saturday 8th June at 7pm: Ben Saunders concert of Accordion and Organ music, tickets £10 on the door, refreshments available for a donation to church funds Ben Saunders

Art in the Dale 2024: from 20th to 23rd June, 9am to 6pm each day, with a focus on the work of Bill Wild, blacksmith, watercolour artist, and wood carver in Malham for 40 years until his death in 1985. Annabelle Bradley (the current Malham blacksmith) will be giving a talk about his work on Saturday 22nd June at 4pm. We will have a wide range of original artwork on display and for sale, including paintings in watercolour and oils, etchings, photography, stained glass pieces, sculpture, and wrought-iron work. Exhibiting artists confirmed so far are: Katharine Holmes, Bev Hicks (and her father Peter, and her daughter Phoebe), Stephen Waterhouse, Fiona Armer, Jane Midgley, Mark Pilkington, Cindy Metcalfe, Josh Morris, Judy Metcalfe, members of the Malham Art Group, and Annabelle Bradley. We will also have work by Kirkby Malham primary school on display. Admission to the exhibition and the talk is free, though we would very much appreciate donations to support our running costs, including the ongoing costs of maintaining this beautiful grade one listed church.

Saturday 29th June at 7pm: Voices of Craven summer concert, a wonderful selection of classical and contemporary music, featuring the soprano soloist Jessica Harper. The choir is conducted by Darren Everhart, and accompanied by Elaine Dave and the Vine String Quartet. Tickets £12 on the door Voices of Craven

Saturday 12th October at 7pm: Martin Francis folk musician. Martin sings Americana, Country, Folk, his own compositions, and covers from the likes of Simon & Garfunkle, Ralph McTell, Donovan, Bob Dylan, Tom Paxton, John Denver, Everly Brothers, and many more. Martin will also play requests from an extensive song list. This is a free concert, with donations requested to go towards the upkeep of our beautiful 15th century church. Saturday 9th November at 7.30pm: Chris Bannister in concert. Chris is a well known singer-songwriter. An evening with Chris Bannister is an evening of rare quality.  Whether it is showcasing the exceptional talent of this singer-songwriter with his self-penned collection of songs, his covers of much-loved classics or undiscovered folk songs or his simply stunning tribute to the music of John Denver, it is easy to see how he has gained an international reputation which has delighted fans for over two decades.
