Following on from our hugely successful Art in the Dale exhibition last year, we are pleased to announce that Art in the Dale 2023 will take place from 1st to 9th July at St Michael the Archangel, Kirkby Malham, from 9am to 6pm each day. We have 12 local professional artists exhibiting, plus the Malham Art Group, poetry written by local people, and pieces made by pupils of Kirkby in Malhamdale primary school. Artists confirmed so far include: Fiona Armer, David Bridges, David and Heather Cook, Katharine Holmes, Beverley Hicks (together with her father Peter, and daughter Phoebe), Cindy Metcalfe, Jane Midgley, Mark Pilkington, Sarah Roche, and Stephen Waterhouse. We also have pieces made by Malham Blacksmith Annabelle Bradley, and poetry written by local poets on display. Paintings, etching, collage, felt-work, and photography will be on display, and for sale, and all the artists are happy to discuss commissions.
This year we will have some additional events:
- Jazz with Jon Moreman and Friends at the opening event, Saturday 1st July 4pm to 6pm (free admission, donations invited)
- Music for a Summer’s Evening by Octameron, a locally based group of 8 singers, on Tuesday 4th July at 7pm (tickets £10 on the door, wine and soft drinks will be served at the interval)
- Poetry and Storytelling evening with Katherine Langrish (www.katherinelangrish.co.uk) and local poets on Saturday 8th July at 7pm (free admission, refreshments at the interval, and donations invited)
